The Ghent River Hotel is situated on the right bank of the Leie, which is beaconed the Ghent boarder between the 11th and 15th century.
Thanks to the ancient pier, Ghent River Hotel is the only hotel that can be reached by boat.
The site encompasses 2 buildings: a renaissance house, dated 1518 and a rice-mill built on a burnt down sugar refinery, dated 1857.
In front of the hotel you come across a small square which is served as thread (yarn) market in the Middle Ages and the 19th century.

A sightseeing trip in Ghent (based on 2 persons)

The walking visit is done with a private English-speaking guide
and includes a boat tour on the canals of about 45 minutes.
This tour will also include the Sint-Baafs cathedral with the visit of the famous triptych of Jan Van Eyck, “the Mystic Lamb”(Het Lam Gods), the Belfry (het Belfort), the city hall, the Sint-Niklaas church, the Graslei with its numerous old Guild houses, the Vleeshuis, the old fish market, het Gravensteen (the Castle of the Counts),
Patershol, a medieval quarter, the Dulle Griet, a big cannon, the statue of Jacob Van Artevelde and the Sint Jacobs church.
The tour takes about 3 hours.
The price for this tour is EURO 135,00 pp for a minimum of 2 persons.

Kortrijk has a list of over 70 protected sites and two of them are part of the Unesco’s World Heritage:
the Belfry and the Begijnhof (Beguine Convent).
In addition of these two sites, the walking visit will include the city hall, the Church of Our Lady,
Our Lady Hospital, the famous Broel tower (one of the symbols of the city),
the XVII century Jesuit church of Saint-Michael,…

Boat tour is only possible in July and August and need to be reserved in advance.
For 2 hours: EURO 37,50 pp for a minimum of 2 persons.
For 3 hours: EURO 56,00 pp for a minimum of 2 persons.
